FAQ

Common questions

How difficult is it to emigrate to Paraguay?

Immigration to Paraguay is manageable for many applicants, but it is not just a formality. Migraciones requires personal attendance, complete original documents, apostilles or legalizations, translations, and evidence of activity or financial situation. With good preparation, the process stays workable.

What documents do I need for immigration to Paraguay?

For temporary residence, you may need an identity document, birth certificate, criminal or police record, INTERPOL or local records, civil-status documents, and evidence of activity or solvency, depending on the category. Foreign documents usually need apostille or legalization and, where required, Spanish translation. We check the current list for your case before travel.

How long does it take to get a residence permit and Cédula in Paraguay?

For the regular Starter Package, plan for about 5-8 months. The Express version is designed for about 8-9 weeks. Only one stay in Paraguay is needed to apply for all documents. Official timelines can still depend on document quality, appointments, and authority workload.

What are the living costs in Paraguay?

The cost of living in Paraguay is significantly lower than in many Western countries. For a German couple with a normal lifestyle, monthly expenses range between €700 and €1,200. An average Paraguayan family spends around €450 per month. Rental costs vary depending on location and amenities, but are generally cheaper than in Germany. Food prices are seasonal; local products are often inexpensive, while imported goods can be more expensive. Services such as electricity, water, and internet are also more affordable. These factors make Paraguay an attractive option for emigrants looking for a high standard of living at lower costs.
